South Cameron Memorial Hospital, Rural Health Clinic and Calcasieu Oaks Psychiatric Hospital Discontinue Operations as a Result of Impending Hurricane Ike

MIAMI, Sept. 12 Effective immediately, Pacer HealthCorporation has discontinued operations at its three Louisiana medicalfacilities: South Cameron Memorial Hospital (Cameron, LA), South Cameron RuralHealth Clinic and Calcasieu Oaks Psychiatric Hospital (Lake Charles, LA), dueto the approaching Hurricane Ike. Responding to mandatory evacuations issuedby emergency management personnel in the Cameron parish area, South CameronMemorial Hospital and South Cameron Rural Health Clinic were forced to ceaseoperations and relocate patients and staff on Friday. While the Lake Charlesarea was not issued a mandatory evacuation, Pacer Health Corporation chose toevacuate Calcasieu Oaks Psychiatric Hospital to ensure the safety of itspatients and staff.

All facilities will cease function until post-storm advisements are issuedby local and state officials and facility managers are able to return to thearea to assess for damages, if any.
