While searching for frames for her then 2-year old daughter, MariaDellapina saw a need, as both an optician and a mother to a child with DownSyndrome. Frustrated with how "typical" frames fit her daughter, Dellapinadesigned a line of eyeglass frames for children with Down Syndrome and otherspecial needs. Dellapina states her mission is simple, "To improve the sightand quality of life for children with special needs by providing custom framesthat fit your children's unique needs." Dellapina named the line after herinspiration, her daughter Erin.

The frames were created to fit facial features common to children withDown Syndrome. The bridge was lowered to ensure the glasses sit correctlyacross the nose. The temples were designed to help keep the glasses fromconstantly sliding.
