Sen. Murphy, a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, was recognized for his success in advancing major mental health reforms into law. In the years since the tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary, Sen. Murphy has been a vocal advocate for improving the nation's mental health system. Last year many of the key provisions advanced by Sen. Murphy became law as part of the 21st Century Cures law.
