SALT LAKE CITY, July 1 Dr. Richard Austin, a Salt Lake City cosmetic dentist, recently announced that he has placed over 30,000 dental veneers / restorations. He attributes his unusual success, during the difficult economy, to his unique combination of services and experience.

"We offer lifelike veneers with same-day tooth replacement and no pain. Patients are able to complete their entire cosmetic treatment, even comprehensive full-mouth treatment, in just one or two visits. As friendly as we are at Gateway Dental Arts, we realize that no one wants to keep coming back to the dentist."

Dr. Austin's practice, Gateway Dental Arts, is located in the Gateway Shopping Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The complex is an upscale center that was built to host the Salt Lake City Olympics.

Perhaps the biggest reason for Dr. Austin's steady stream of smiling customers is that he's one of very few cosmetic dental offices across the country to have an award-wining, in-house, lab and ceramist located within his practice.

"The advantages of having an in-house dental ceramist are tremendous," notes Austin. "If during the installation of a patient's veneers, a slight change needs to be made to insure a perfect fit, Eric Newell, our ceramist, is right there to step in and take care of it. If a cosmetic dentist uses an outside lab, and there's a problem with the veneers during installation, then the patient either has to go back once the veneers are corrected, or more often, they are forced to settle for an imperfect smile. We don't let either happen."

But Austin adds that it takes more than a perfect fit to make a great smile. "With our situation, we are able to match new cosmetic dental veneers perfectly to the color of existing teeth. We also provide all the fine, subtle details, often overlooked by an outside lab, to make each patient smile natural and unique."

Dr. Austin also notes that Newell has won numerous awards for his work, including "Top Honors" and a "Best of Show" at recent competitions. As a master ceramist, Newell has also created the veneers for many high-profile celebrities, including a Miss America.

In addition to porcelain dental veneers, Dr. Austin and Gateway Dental Arts specialize in cosmetic dental implants, porcelain restorations, smile makeovers, crowns, conscious sedation dentistry (called sleep dentistry by many), teeth whitening and orthodontics.

Austin's cosmetic dental work is becoming so well known that he has patients fly in from across the country to use his services. That said, he's modest about his success. "We think everyone deserves a terrific smile and we're here to help provide the most nature and beautiful smile possible."

Gateway Dental Arts is located at 440 West 200 So., Suite 275, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Their phone number is 801.321.7600. For additional information visit

Dr. Austin graduated from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree and has been practicing cosmetic dentistry in the Salt Lake City area for nearly 30 years. He is one of only a handful of Utah dentists to have completed the Advanced Dental Studies Master Aesthetic Dentist postgraduate program at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute (LVI). Out of the 150,000+ practicing dentists across the country, fewer than one quarter of one percent have attained this level of achievement.
