Sage Launches Sage Intergy Version 5.5 Integrated Electronic Health Records and Practice Management System
TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Leveraging its heritage and experience of more than a decade of standards-based interoperability, Sage today announced the launch of Sage Intergy version 5.5 integrated electronic health records and practice management system, to help improve the health and well being of physician practices and their patients. The systems' enhancements are designed to further expand interoperability with other systems and devices; further address specialty needs in obstetrics, pediatrics and cardiology; and streamline billing and collections, especially for larger practices.
A few of the most attractive enhancements to Sage Intergy EHR electronic health records include:
Feedback from early adopters of Sage Intergy version 5.5 has been overwhelmingly positive. According to Jeff Livingston, MD, of MacArthur OB/Gyn in Irving, Texas, "The additional high-risk features in this version helps our medical assistants, labor and delivery nurses and covering physicians easily recognize the medical complications of a particular patient's pregnancy. This allows for quick, well-informed decision making. We also appreciate the increased ePrescribing interoperability. The new functionality allows me to see drugs that other providers may have prescribed, absolutely helping me to analyze interactions and prevent errors."
Dr. Livingston also stressed the importance of ease of use and support. "The workflow enhancements have dramatically improved my efficiency," he stated. "Sage Intergy EHR is designed around physicians' usual method of documenting on paper, so the transition is natural. The customer support and integration teams from Sage are excellent and light years ahead of the competition. Most physicians undervalue the need for good support. But in my opinion the support provided should be the number one concern when choosing an electronic health record."
Carol Eleder Ellis, Practice Administrator at Alliance Pediatrics, PA in Gainesville, Florida, praised Sage Intergy EHR pediatric enhancements.
"Our six providers - 4 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners - see between 100 and 120 patients daily. From a pediatric standpoint, the information that Sage Intergy EHR requires the provider to enter will allow us to improve accuracy and better track - and improve - immunization compliance. From a general standpoint, we're excited about the Encounter Note enhancement. The new output that we developed using the wizard is clean, professional and personalized with our logo."
Another early adopter, Marcy Medlin, Administrator of Gainesville Hematology Oncology Associates, also in Florida, appreciates the interoperability enhancements.
"We've been automatically importing lab results into our electronic health record for years with Sage Intergy EHR," she said. "The newest version works well with even more systems, including our in-house lab system. This has been a huge timesaver and accuracy improver."
Sharon Howard, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Sage, reinforced the company's commitment to continual enhancement.
"The challenges our customers face in this healthcare environment are significant," said Ms. Howard. "Declining reimbursements and increasing regulations put increased pressures on practices every year. Every Sage Intergy EHR enhancement must solve a customer problem and help them to face the challenges of our healthcare environment. Remaining static is simply not an option in an industry that undergoes continuous change."

-- Cardiac device integration, giving physicians the ability to pull discrete, minable data into the electronic health record directly from many common devices. -- Predictive Orders Management analyzes and "learns" the way an individual physician practices medicine to deliver provider- and practice-specific decision support and workflow management. -- Expanded ePrescribing capabilities, including full pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) integration through RxHub. This extends the capabilities of our ePrescribing systems, in place for more than a decade, which our customers already use to transmit more than 900,000 ePrescriptions each month. -- Additional high-risk support and workflow enhancements within OB Chart. Already called the "best OB chart" by many of our customers and prospects, enhancements to our OB Chart will allow providers to flag not only a pregnancy as high-risk, but also single visits within a normal pregnancy as high-risk. Task and reminder support ensures key therapies - such as in the case of an Rh-negative mother - occur on time. Additionally, a number of workflow enhancements - for example, transfer of care - have been made making the physician experience even more positive. -- Increased interoperability for pediatric practices, including for immunization tracking and registry transmittal. -- Encounter Note wizard allows practices to modify the output of the codified data for a more pleasing, natural-looking encounter note.
