AMSTERDAM, September 13 Elsevier today announced theappointment of Roy Jakobs as Managing Director, Academic and Government Salesand Customer Marketing. In this role, Jakobs will lead the global sales andmarketing organization working directly with universities and institutions toprovide some of the world's leading research information solutions, includingScienceDirect, Scopus, bibliographic databases such as the CrossFireBeilstein database, and Elsevier's extensive collection of online books andreference works.
Jakobs brings to his new position relevant experience in strategicplanning, sales and marketing from in- and outside the information solutionsindustry. He most recently served as Director of Strategy, Science andTechnology, at Elsevier. Prior to joining Elsevier in 2005 he held variousmanagement roles within Shell in several locations across Europe.
