CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Health Services has changed itsname to Care Ring to reflect the nonprofit's focus on providing health care access to patients with limited resources. The new name gives the agency a distinct name, while embodying its role as a leader in the collaborative effort to provide health care
The agency selected Care Ring after conducting an in-depth organizational and strategic capacity-building process. The organization emerged from that process with a renewed focus on its mission and the realization that the agency's name needed to better reflect its purpose.
"Our new name, Care Ring, underscores our commitment to respond to our community's changing health care needs and empower clients to establish and maintain good health," said Douglas Neely, chairman of the Care Ring board of directors. "Today, one in 10 people die from limited access to health services. Our goal is to prevent these needless tragedies and build a stronger, healthier community by providing access to care."
In its 55-year history, the agency has continued to evolve and serve people who fall through the cracks of the traditional health care system in Mecklenburg County.
With its low-cost clinic on East 5th Street and programs such as Physicians Reach Out and Nurse-Family Partnership, the organization provides uninsured and underinsured patients with access to medical and dental care.
Care Ring is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable, accessible and high-quality health care for people who lack access to services. Since 1955, the agency has been providing preventive health care in Charlotte to children and adults with limited means. Today, the agency serves 10,000 clients annually.
