WASHINGTON, June 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Registration is now open for the American Public Health Association's 139th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C., Oct. 29-Nov. 2.

The 2011 APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition, themed "Healthy Communities Promote Healthy Minds and Bodies," will feature an array of public health experts who will discuss the latest issues affecting our nation's health. APHA's meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health. Keynote speakers include former U.S. Sen. Tom Daschle; Jonathan Jarvis, director of the National Park Service; and Pamela Hyde, administrator of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, who will discuss efforts to create healthy communities in America.  

The APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world. Attendees learn about the latest research, trends and public health discoveries from more than 1,000 scientific sessions, roundtables, poster sessions, institutes and panel discussions.
