CLEVELAND, Dec. 11 The Ohio Nurses Association reached and ratified an agreement with University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center (the Hospital) on December 9, 2008. The 3-year contract includes a pay increase each year of the agreement among other provisions.

The RNs employed by the Hospital are professionals with highly developed skills and extensive education. Each and every day they provide compassionate care to individuals while promoting health, independence and dignity. "We are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with the Hospital that will allow us to continue to provide quality care to the residents of Geneva and surrounding communities," said Gary Seigerst, Chief Negotiator for the Ohio Nurses Association.

About the Ohio Nurses Association

The Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) was established in 1904 to secure a Nurse Practice Act to protect Ohio's citizens and has become the premier professional organization for Ohio's RNs. ONA's Economic and General Welfare (E&GW) Program was established in 1956. When the National Labor Relations Act was amended in 1974 to allow nurses to unionize, the E&GW Program was charged with providing representation for nurses in collective bargaining.
