RainDance Technologies Appoints McNary President and CEO

GUILFORD, Conn., Nov. 28 RainDance Technologies, Inc., adeveloper of NanoReactor droplet-based microfluidic technology, todayannounced the appointment of Christopher McNary as President and ChiefExecutive Officer. McNary will join Jonathan Rothberg, Chairman of the Board,in driving RainDance Technologies' vision and the upcoming commercial launchof its Professional Laboratory System in the Life Sciences and other relatedmarkets.

The RainDance Professional Laboratory System combines microdroplets andmicrofluidics to enable a host of nanoscale cell-based and molecular assays.Samples (cells, beads, DNA templates, chemical compounds) and reactants areencapsulated in individual micron-sized droplets on assay-specific NanoReactorchips. With each droplet being the equivalent of a well in a microtiterplate, the Professional Laboratory System can process and analyze 10,000samples per second with unparalleled accuracy. The precise manipulation ofminute amounts of fluids within NanoReactor droplets will benefit a variety ofindustrial and research applications, including DNA sequencing preparation,enzyme engineering, functional cell sorting, multiplex PCR, SNP detection,gene expression, and RNAi functional assays.

He also has served as President and CEO of early-stagestart-up companies and held executive management positions at ChironDiagnostics and Tecan.
