Biden: "I don't have any Joe the plumbers in my neighborhood that make $250,000 a year and are worried. The Joe the plumbers in my neighborhood, the Joe the cops in my neighborhood, the Joe the grocery store owners in my neighborhood, they make like 98% of the small businesses, less than $250,000 a year." (NBC's "Today Show," 10/16/08)

JOE KNOWS: Obama's Income Tax Increase Would Raise Taxes On Hundreds Of Thousands Of Small Businesses:

FactCheck.org: "McCain Is Right About One Thing. Many Small-Business Owners Would Indeed See Their Taxes Go Up If Obama Is Elected And Raises The Top Income-Tax Rates." ("McCain's Small-Business Bunk," www.factcheck.org, 7/14/08)

Two-Thirds Of Small Business Income Would Be Subject To Obama's Significantly Higher Tax Rates. "The conservative argument (and that of the John McCain campaign) is that Obama's stated plan to raise taxes on households making $250,000 or more in income is a tax increase on small business. The simple answer to this dilemma can be found in the IRS Statistics of Income Bulletin (Table 1.4, for those who are interested). So what do the data say? In 2006 (the latest year available), $706 billion of such income was reported to the Internal Revenue Service. Of this, about half was reported by households in the top marginal income tax rate. Interestingly, two-thirds of this income was reported by households making $250,000 per year or more -- the very same households that Obama wants to increase taxes on. The Obama campaign maintains that the number of small-business owners is what's important. Economists know what matters is the tax rate that's applied to the bulk of small-business income. Make no mistake about it: Obama's plan to raise taxes on households making more than $250,000 will raise taxes on most small-business profits in America." (Grover G. Norquist, Op-Ed, "An Argument Against Obama's Tax Plan," The Politico, 7/11/08)

Tax Policy Center: Over Half-A-Million Taxpayers With Business Income Would Be Subject To Obama's Tax Increase. "According to the Tax Policy Center, 663,608 taxpayers with business income (or losses) fall into the top two tax brackets and could be subject to Obama's tax increase." (Richard McGill Murphy, "McCain Vs. Obama: Who Will Cut Small-Business Taxes?" money.cnn.com, 9/8/08)

JOE KNOWS: Obama Is Vague About Which Small Businesses Are Exempt From His Burdensome Health Care Employer Mandate:

Obama "Has Not Defined What A Small Business Is" In Regards To The Employer Mandate Exemption In His Health Care Plan. "To be clear on Joe Wurzelbacher, the plumber from Ohio: He would not be fined by Obama for not providing health care to workers. Obama says he will exempt small businesses. That said, he has not defined what a small business is." ("Reality Check Last Presidential Debate," CBS News, www.cbsnews.com, 10/15/08)

Obama "Has Not ... Said What Size Company He Has In Mind For The Exemption." "The claim: McCain said that under Obama's health care plan, a small business could be fined for not offering coverage to its employees. The facts: The key to this charge is what defines a 'small' business, and the Obama campaign has not said. Obama has said he would exempt small businesses from having to contribute to their employees' health coverage or pay into a national fund. He has not, however, said what size company he has in mind for the exemption." (Richard Wolf and Ken Dilanian, "Context Of Key Debate Claims," USA Today, 10/16/08)

"In August, Obama Adviser Jason Furman Said Companies With 10 Or Fewer Employees Would Likely Be Exempted, But He Did Not Limit It To That Size." (Richard Wolf and Ken Dilanian, "Context Of Key Debate Claims," USA Today, 10/16/08)

Obama's Adviser Said That The "Number Would Almost Certainly Be Higher Than Ten Employees." "'The number would almost certainly be higher than ten employees,' [Jason] Furman added when asked if a recent non-partisan study by the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center was correct in assuming that Obama would exempt 'small businesses' with fewer than 10 employees from the pay-or-play system." (Gregory Wallace and Teddy Davis, "Obama Fuzzy On 'Small Business' Exemption," ABC's "Political Radar" Blog, blogs.abcnews.com, 8/5/08)

JOE KNOWS: The Obama/Biden Ticket Believes In Redistributionist Economic Policies Claiming It's Patriotic To Pay Higher Taxes And "Spread The Wealth Around":

Biden Said It's Patriotic To Pay More In Taxes. "Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. ... Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: 'It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.'" (Douglass K. Daniel, "Biden Calls Paying Higher Taxes A Patriotic Act," The Associated Press, 9/18/08)

Obama: "I Think When You Spread The Wealth Around, It's Good For Everybody." (Charles Hurt, Op-Ed, "Obama Fires A 'Robin Hood' Warning Shot," New York Post, 10/15/08)

The [Manchester, NH] Union Leader: Obama's Economic Policies Amount To "Failed Redistributionism Wrapped In Pretty New Paper." "There is no question, Barack Obama the man is a new and exciting presence on the national stage. His plan for governing this country is not. It is nothing more than failed redistributionism wrapped in pretty new paper. That isn't change. It is a failure of imagination. And it is a betrayal of trust in the American people and of the ideals on which this great and free nation was founded." (Editorial, "Obama's Agenda: Forcing Us To 'Share,'" The [Manchester, NH] Union Leader, 10/15/08)

The Washington Times' Donald Lambro: "Instead of cutting everyone's taxes to encourage work, investment and savings by enlarging the economic pie, Mr. Obama would redivide the pie into smaller slices and redistribute it through the tax system. This is the Europeanization of the economy that awaits us under an Obama presidency." (Donald Lambro, Op-Ed, "Tax-Relief Fiction," The Washington Times, 10/16/08)

The Club For Growth's Andy Roth: "It's clear that his main goal is redistribution of wealth, not growth. ... He's perfectly happy to destroy wealth as long as he can redistribute it." (Charles s Hurt, Op-Ed, "Obama Fires A 'Robin Hood' Warning Shot," New York Post, 10/15/08)
