Background: Six months ago. the VA's Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology asked ACT-IAC to provide industry recommendations regarding the modernization of VistA, VA's integrated and scalable health information system supporting the eight million veterans served by the VA's 153 Medical Centers and 768 VA Outpatient Clinics. Recognized as the premier electronic health information system in the nation VistA's modernization has far-reaching implications for health systems nationwide as well as large scale projects throughout the federal government.

This week the IAC VistA Modernization Working Group, created in response to VA's request, has sent its final report to the VA. This briefing will be the first public presentation of this report.
