MIAMI, Dec. 23 After painting Black Friday pink onNovember 28, CompUSA ( www.compusa.com ) and TigerDirect( www.tigerdirect.com ), leading retailers of consumer electronics andtechnology products, raised more than $40,000 from total sales and customerdonations for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest breast cancerorganization.
"We are excited so many of our customers bought products or made donationsthat benefited Komen for the Cure," said Gilbert Fiorentino, Chief Executiveof Systemax Inc. Technology Products business, which includes CompUSA andTigerDirect. "In addition, we donated an additional $100,000 to Komenfollowing the event, for a total donation of $140,000, and will continue toraise money for the cause the remainder of the year."
Customers, on what has become one of the busiest shopping days of theyear, were given an opportunity to donate $1, $5, $10 or $20 on top of theirin-store or on-site purchase to the organization. In addition, full proceedsof sale products during the Pink Friday webcast ( www.pinkfriday.org ) wentdirectly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Komen for the Cure partners with a variety of organizations,offering hundreds of creative opportunities for people to be a part of thebreast cancer movement," said Katrina McGhee, vice president of marketing atKomen for the Cure. "CompUSA and TigerDirect offered a great way for peopleto 'think pink' when they were shopping on Black Friday."
This year, close to 35,000 fewer women are expected to be diagnosed withinvasive breast cancer, according to data presented by the American CancerSociety (ACS). The decrease is attributed to earlier detection throughscreening, increased awareness and improved treatments.
