About Common Ground Health Clinic:
Common Ground Health Clinic started Sept. 10, 2005, twelve days after levees breached and New Orleans was under a national mandatory evacuation. Algiers community leaders set up a makeshift health clinic/shelter refuge for those who did not or could not leave the city. Doctors, residents, physical therapists, medical students, registered nurses, alternative medicine practitioners, and nurse practitioners traveled from around the country to "Common Ground" headquarters. Five years later, the clinic is helping to meet the health care needs of the community.
