Concerning this year's Presidential candidates, Dr. Kingsley asks thequestion:

"Do we care that he's got no hair?"

"Believe it or not, there have been many studies designed to answer thisquestion (most with men, sorry Hillary). One study concluded that a thinningpate implied increased intelligence though a lower physical attractivenessgrade," Dr. Kingsley explains.

"Another study looked at the percentage of men with hair loss who werestate governors and in U.S. Congress. It was found that the number with hairloss that held these powerful positions (37.2%) was well below the nationalaverage (52.3%). The researchers wondered if the reason for this was thatpeople just didn't vote for the follically challenged.

The results were surprising in that there was no evidence that candidateswith hair loss were discriminated against during elections, in other words, voters would vote for them irrespective of the amount of hair they had. Thestudy did find, however, that the under-representation was due to men withhair loss having a negative self-perception, which discouraged them fromrunning for office.

This is good news for the Republicans who boast a large field offollically challenged candidates, particularly John McCain, Fred Thompson, andRudy Giuliani. They can hold their heads high, as their sparse domes are notturning away the voters. In fact, it could be argued that they are perceivedas being more intelligent and have an above average sense of self-worth."

The answer: "He's got no hair, but we don't care!"
