In April 2007, the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi engaged Perot Systems toprepare an assessment of the project to help ensure that it would beimplemented successfully and ultimately deliver the desired benefits. Thegoal of the program was to create a system that would provide a comprehensiveElectronic Medial Record (EMR) and maximize administrative efficiency. The EMRprovides a centralized platform for the management of patient information,enabling all clinicians in the organization to view a single medical recordand in the process improve safety as well the efficiency of the entireclinical process. For the PHC's patients the EMR translates into improvementsin the quality of care they receive as a result of the fact that theirinformation is centralized and physicians have a more complete picture of thepatient's information.

Upon completion of the review in June of 2007, Perot Systems was asked tomanage the roll out of the HIS across three public hospitals and associatedPHCs. The hospitals and clinics, now run by a new government owned privatecompany call the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) includes the 468 bedTawam Hospital, 550 bed Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and 235 bed Al CornicheHospital.
A year later, Perot Systems has successfully overseen the HISimplementation in three PHC locations. The system now provides acomprehensive EMR, supports best practice processes in all hospitals, andenables clinical, operational and financial metric reporting.
