HARRISBURG, Pa., May 19 Marian Hollibaugh, employed by Homemaker-Health Aide Service of Beaver County, Inc., is the commonwealth's Direct Care Worker of the Year, Department of Aging Secretary John Michael Hall said today.

Hollibaugh was honored with the Governor's Achievement Award at a ceremony during the PA Partners Conference in Hershey.
"Over the course of 17 years, Marian Hollibaugh has excelled in the very important role of Direct Care Worker," Hall said. "She is known for providing excellent personal care and displays uncommon initiative to ensure the comfort of those most in need."

Hollibaugh, of Beaver Falls, earned a Certified Nurse Aide certificate from the former Aliquippa Hospital, followed by specialty training in geriatric dental hygiene, understanding diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and infection control. Homemaker-Home Health Aide Service of Beaver County, Inc. recognized her outstanding job achievement at its last annual meeting.
Direct care workers are the indispensable link for thousands of older citizens who receive care at home, which is the setting preferred by most older adults. As Hollibaugh's career compellingly demonstrates, she has rendered around-the-clock care in challenging situations, bringing the gift of a compassionate heart to those around her.
Nominations for the Direct Care Worker Governor's Achievement Award are requested through Pennsylvania's 52 Area Agencies on Aging or Medical-Assistance- enrolled aging waiver providers.
