Outdoor activities like golf, can lead to greater sun exposure, sun damage and an increased risk of skin cancer – the most curable and preventable form of cancer. "Take a Swing at the Sun" is launched during National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, from May 12 through June 24. Users who "Like" Fraxel on Facebook and submit a story on how they fight back against sun damage by "taking a swing at the sun," are entered to win the Las Vegas trip, or secondary prizes like TaylorMade R11 Drivers and sleeves of Fraxel-branded Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.  To learn more about the contest, enter to win and read about Fraxel, please log onto: www.facebook.com/fraxel.

"Take a Swing at the Sun" is part of a larger Solta awareness campaign, in partnership with McCarron, to educate Tour players and fans on the prevention and treatment of sun damage.  Solta's groundbreaking Fraxel 1927 nm laser was introduced last year as part of the Fraxel Dual platform and has quickly become the go-to wavelength for many practices around the world to address Actinic Keratoses (AK) or Solar Keratoses, precancerous skin conditions caused by the damaging effects of the sun.  McCarron received a Fraxel treatment as a patient, and experienced a significant reversal of sun damage.

"My office is on the golf course so I have learned over the years - sometimes the hard way - the importance of protecting my skin, and have received treatment for sun damage and AK's with the Fraxel technology," said Scott McCarron. "I am glad to continue my partnership with Solta Medical and participate in a program that rewards Facebook users for 'taking a swing at the sun' to increase awareness of the importance of protection, skin screenings, and effective solutions like Fraxel."

"Solta Medical is thrilled to offer its Facebook fans a special opportunity to share stories with other users on how they take action to protect themselves against harmful skin damage resulting from sun exposure," said Jeff Nardoci, Vice President of Global Marketing at Solta Medical. "By partnering with Scott to educate consumers about skin protection, and establishing the Fraxel 1927 nm system as the gold standard and only FDA treatment cleared to treat AKs, we are well-positioned to inform, screen and treat golfers and outdoor enthusiasts who are most impacted by over exposure to the sun."

In support of  its partnership with McCarron, Fraxel will be conducting on-site skin cancer screenings out of  its state-of-the-art Airstream trailer at PGA TOUR golf tournaments including the Reno-Tahoe Open (August 1-7, 2011).  Over the last year, Fraxel has sponsored several golf tournaments including the Nationwide Tour's Fresh Express Classic in April and provided on-site skin cancer screenings for golfers, caddies and fans.
