SANTA CRUZ, Calif., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio Careers, the leading online career service for postgraduate life scientists, is holding the world's first Virtual Job Summit for life science Master's and PhD graduates October 5-6. The online summit will enable employers to meet, converse with and interview alumni and degree candidates from more than 30 of the top 50 U.S. training institutions—without leaving their office.
"We are excited about the event because it will allow employers to participate in a remarkable job fair without the time or expense of traveling to a physical location," President Nick Folger said. "Each employer will receive their own 'virtual booth,' which they can fill with a variety of information, such as white papers, brochures and videos."
Each virtual booth will also include a description of the employers, a logo, the date/times recruiters will be available at the booth ('office hours') and links to listings on the Bio Careers job board. In addition, employers will receive video/text interviewing capability and a report on all of the job seekers who visit the booth to chat or download materials. "Employers will have two looks at candidates—during event 'office hours' and in follow-up interviews—to assess their skills and culture fit before investing in bringing them in for interviews," Folger said.

- In July, Bio Careers will help organizations set up their virtual booth.
- In August/September, job seekers will navigate through the exhibit hall, download materials and determine which employers to visit.
- On October 5 and 6, employers will video chat with interested job seekers at their booth.
- Later in October, employers will conduct video interviews and receive a report of everyone who visited their booth.
