DALLAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In the span of four years, Wally Hogland suffered a stroke, was laid off at Christmas and diagnosed with advanced stage IV cancer.

"When my doctor came in and told me that I had cancer," says Hogland, tears welling up in his eyes at the painful recollection. "My mind descended into a deep, dark pit."
It was only after the momentous decision to surrender himself to God that he found his way out of that pit and towards the healing source behind his new book, Second Chance for Life.
Motivated to write about prayerful healing through faith while struggling through a grueling regimen of radiation therapy, the first-time author was witness to an overwhelming lack of hope among patients and families torn apart by cancer diagnoses and treatments.
