SAN FRANCISCO, April 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Pandia Health (www.pandiahealth.com), a women's health services start-up announced the availability of its free birth-control delivery service. Pandia Health serves the women who seek a modern approach to accessing birth control, without the hassle of in-office physician visits or unnecessary trips to the pharmacy for pickup.

The only women-founded, women-led startup in its space and a member of the Summer 2017 Stanford StartX accelerator program, Pandia Health simplifies the way women access birth control by creating a one-stop service that prescribes, fills, delivers, and automatically refills prescriptions in as little as five minutes. All medications are delivered in discreet packaging and depending on insurance coverage, will include up to 12-months' worth of birth control.

"We created Pandia Health to help women overcome birth control barriers such as public scrutiny and judgment, limited supply, and inconvenient trips to the doctor's office and pharmacy," said Sophia Yen, MD, MPH, Pandia Health's Co-Founder and CEO. "We bring birth control to women wherever they have the internet and a mailbox. No one runs out of birth control on our watch."

How it works: Pandia Health makes it easy for women to access prescription birth control from any device and receive up to 12 months of medication delivered conveniently to their mailbox. Delivery is free with an existing prescription, but if they don't have one, women can simply complete a brief online health questionnaire, provide their latest blood pressure, and pay $39 for a doctor's evaluation. A doctor from the Pandia Health team will review the information and write a prescription to meet the patient's individual needs. Once Pandia Health has the prescription, its patient care managers pro-actively manage refills to make sure they ship before women run out. For women without insurance, Pandia Health provides generic birth control pills for $20/pack.

"At Pandia Health we strive to be a trusted resource for women's health," continued Dr. Yen. "Through our community work, lectures, blog, and informative videos, we empower women with the tools to make informed decisions about their reproductive health. Our doctors come from the best medical schools/residencies/fellowships and are all passionate about helping women with their birth control needs."

In May, Pandia Health will launch, "Q&A with Dr. Y." It will give people an opportunity to ask Pandia Health Co-Founder, Dr. Sophia Yen, board-certified in both Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, questions regarding birth control and their reproductive health. Currently you can also view Pandia Health's video series on YouTube, where Dr. Yen discusses the various types of birth control and what women should know or expect. Topics range from "estrogen vs progesterone side effects" to emergency contraception and "generic vs brand-name" medication to "skipping periods."

Pandia Health is currently available to women in California with plans to expand into Florida, Massachusetts, Arizona, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia and possibly Texas by the end of 2017. California residents can sign up by visiting the Pandia Health website.
