The OV6930 uses a three micron OmniPixel3-HS(TM) pixel, which enables itto achieve best-in-class low light performance of 3300 mV/Lux-second.Currently, no other CMOS image sensor on the market offers the same highperformance and sensitivity in such a small form factor, making the OV6930 avery compelling solution for the medical device market. "OmniVision's first generation medical sensor (OV6920) has beensuccessfully adopted by multiple customers that have been approved by the FDAor other regulatory agencies worldwide," said Grahame Cooney, ProductMarketing Director at OmniVision. "With the OV6930, OmniVision is able tofurther leverage its success in the medical imaging market. The sensor's sizeand performance enable an even broader scope of medical endoscopy applicationsincluding colonoscopy, gastroscopy, OB/GYN, urology and bronchoscopy." The OV6930 provides full-frame or cropped analog images in RAW RGB formatvia the control of a new, patent pending serial I/O, which allows for two-wirecabling up to 14 feet and contributes to its very low power consumption of80mW with and 10mW without IO usage. It has an image array capable ofoperating at 30 frames per second (fps) in full 400 x 400 resolution, and60 fps at 400 x 200 resolution with simplified exposure control, which isprogrammable through the serial interface. The OV6930 uses proprietary sensortechnology to improve image quality by reducing or eliminating common lightingor electrical sources of image contamination, such as fixed pattern noise andsmearing, to produce a clean, fully stable color image.
