Oakwood Healthcare System and the Phoenix Medical Group Bring Health Awareness to WCCCD's Northwest Campus, Saturday, January 30, 2010

FREE H1N1 and Tetanus Vaccines, Dental Screenings, Glucose and Blood Pressure Tests, and Health Workshops Offered At A Wayne County Community College District Community Health Fair

DETROIT, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Annual flu peak periods in February and March coupled with an anticipated second wave of H1N1 have brought WCCCD, Oakwood Health Care and the Phoenix Medical Group together to present a Community Health Fair on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 10:00 a.m.2:00 p.m. at the District's Northwest Campus Health Science Center located at 8200 W. Outer Drive, Detroit, MI  48219.

This free event, open to the public is being offered during the height of flu season and will include H1N1 vaccines, tetanus shots, dental screenings, glucose screenings and more.  The vaccines will only be available for adults 18 and over.  

Additionally, the Phoenix Medical Group will be on-site for "Meet the Doctors," giving attendees an opportunity to have their H1N1 questions answered.  No appointments are necessary.  Additionally, workshops will be offered on diabetes, nutrition and healthy living.

For those attending with children, activities will be available and kids will have the opportunity to meet WCCCD's Tooth fairy who will demonstrate proper dental hygiene and encourage literacy through reading.
