According to the award organizers, "Northwest Hospital is part of an exclusive group of organizations that are setting the bar for positive workplace culture in the Northwest."
In the online write-up that accompanied the award, the hospital stood out in its category for a number of reasons. "First of all, getting to work at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center is a piece of cake with the free vanpools. Once there, the 33-acre North Seattle campus, situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, is a beautiful place to be, with meandering paths, green lawns, flower gardens, plazas and gazebos to relax in. That's unusual among Seattle's full-service hospitals, most of which are downtown amid all the urban chaos. . . ." The piece also mentions the hospital's child care center for employees' children, which boasts early-childhood development experts.
In addition to winning in the category of Favorite Healthcare Company, Northwest Hospital was also named a finalist for Favorite Non-Profit, Favorite Seattle-Area Company and Most Unusual Perk(s).
"Our competitive benefits and special perks for our employees, paired with our excellent patient care, make us unique among Seattle hospitals," Olmstead says. "It's great to have these special qualities recognized."
