Mr. Botsford recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer atUniversity Physicians Healthcare (UPH), the health system and academic medicalpractice of the University of Arizona College of Medicine faculty. Thepractice consisted of approximately 375 full-time academic physicians, 14clinical departments, 22 clinic facilities, and a freestanding ambulatorysurgery center. The corporation operated a fully accredited 197-bed acutecare hospital, a Medicaid risk contract providing managed care services to48,000 members, and a small-business health plan covering 8,000 members. UPHemployed a staff of 2,100, comprised of physicians and staff working in arange of settings, including clinics, hospital, central billing office, healthplan, corporate, and practice administration.

During his 15-year tenure, Mr. Botsford led UPH through significantchange, and was responsible for strategic planning, organizationaldevelopment, and practice operations, as well as oversight of physiciancompensation, Medicaid managed care plans, and the risk management/malpracticeinsurance corporation. Mr. Botsford also led UPH's acquisition of acounty-owned community hospital (formerly Kino Community Hospital, nowUniversity Physicians Hospital) which resulted in an innovative partnershipbetween UPH, the University, and county government. Under his leadership, thehospital began to reestablish itself as a full-service hospital and outpatienttreatment center.

Prior to his employment at UPH, Mr. Botsford served in several roles atUniversity of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. While there, hisresponsibilities included patient account management, strategic, facility, andprogram planning for the 503-bed academic medical center, and administrativeoversight of provider-based clinics and specialty centers.
