This year's event will benefit Children's Rights, a watchdog organizationthat advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children in the UnitedStates, and Keep A Child Alive, which provides medical care and life-savingdrugs for African children suffering from AIDS.
"Our tournament's mission is to make a significant difference in the livesof abused, disadvantaged and sick children," stated Marc S. Dreier, thefounder and managing partner of Dreier LLP. "This tournament allows us to bothalleviate suffering and to provide children with a chance for a better life."
The event, now in its third year, will kick off June 29 with a GalaPairings Party at TAO Restaurant in midtown Manhattan, and includes a privateconcert featuring a Grammy Award-winning performer, a live auction hosted byGiants defensive end Michael Strahan, who won his first Super Bowl ring thisyear, and a silent auction. Previous performers at the party have includedmusical legends Bon Jovi and Diana Ross, and this year's event will featurecomparable entertainment.
The golf tournament, which brings together leading professional athletesand business leaders, will be held June 30 at the Century County Club inPurchase, New York.
Celebrities who have participated in the tournament include Eli Manning,Deacon Jones, Sean Jones, Julius Erving, Warren Sapp, Marcus Allen, JamalAnderson, Vince Coleman, Harry Carson, Clyde Drexler, Wayne Chrebet, JeremyLincoln, Tony Siragusa, Vencie Glenn, Ahmad Rashad, Spud Webb, Bruce Smith,Harold Green, Greg Anthony, Richard Dent, Sterling Sharpe, Tim Brown, MarshallFaulk, Luis Castillo, Phillippi Sparks, Ki-Jana Carter, William Shatner andAlfonso Ribeiro, among others.
Last year's tournament raised more than $300,000 for children's charities.
