While many medical web sites feature general health information, few siteshave the capability to offer patients personalized, confidential and VIPadvice from an expert medical doctor.

Lance Cohen, MD created AskTheMedicalSpecialist.com to give onlinesearchers the chance to have their medical questions answered by knowledgeablemedical professionals, regardless of location.

"Doctors and their families receive better medical care than the generalpopulation," says Dr. Cohen.

"Knowing what questions to ask, double checking the treatments that arerecommended to you, knowing your choices when you are told you need aprocedure -- ultimately empowers you as a patient and as a consumer."

Ask the Medical Specialist keeps all customer information strictlyconfidential. However, some customers choose to anonymously release theirquestion and answer for publication to aid other patients facing similarproblems.

One patient named SF from California recently asked Dr. Cohen if a centralline catheter was necessary for his ailing father. Dr. Cohen explains thebenefits and risks of the procedure, along with a recommended course of actionin the "Recent Posts" section of the Web site.

To ask a medical question, a patient registers, chooses a specialist, andsubmits a question directly to that doctor.

The doctor reviews the question and returns the query within 48 hours. The patient then has the opportunity to ask one follow-up question.

Dr. Cohen specializes in critical care medicine, internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine. Ask the Medical Specialist currentlyhas hand-picked three other doctors:

All doctors at Ask the Medical Specialist are American board-certified andpossess extensive experience working in the field in which they specialize.
