Relationship helps AARP's nearly 40 million members save on Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home fitness DVD offerings and online Walk Club memberships
This new relationship comes following a recent report from AARP, the American Medical Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which found that Americans between the ages of 50 and 64 are finding it hard to shed unwanted pounds: 31 percent of adults in this age group are obese and 27 percent have not been physically active in the past month.
"Walking offers tremendous health benefits that can help older adults stay independent," said David Mathis, senior vice president of health products and services for AARP Services, Inc. "Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home program is a wonderful complement to the existing suite of fitness offerings AARP makes available to help our members stay active and live healthier."
AARP members who take advantage of the 50 percent off Walk Club membership discount will receive access to fitness and healthy meal planning advice and articles, streaming video workouts, walk challenges and chats with the staff dietician, guest walk leaders and Leslie Sansone.
"Staying fit should not be intimidating or expensive. Walking our way is the medicine for life," Sansone said. "Walking at Home is something everyone can do. All you need are your walking shoes and a TV or computer to pop in the DVD and begin. You can walk 1, 2, 3, 4, or as many miles as you choose right next to your screen."
