PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 13 Trying to predict the best timeto conceive can be difficult, and most home ovulation tests provide only ahandful of chances to identify the two most fertile days of a woman's cycle. But now there's a simpler way of tracking the most fertile days: The new FIRSTRESPONSE Daily Ovulation Test includes 20 testing sticks instead of justseven, so women can predict throughout the whole month the important two dayswhen they are most likely to conceive. The test works by detecting theincrease in luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine, also known as the LH Surge thatoccurs right before ovulation-the most fertile time of a cycle.

"Some women find it difficult to know when they are ovulating, especiallyif they don't have a reliable, 28-day menstrual cycle," says Lisa Masterson,M.D., affiliated with Cedars-Sinai, St. John's and UCLA/Santa Monicahospitals. "If women can test themselves all month using one accurate kit, finding that window of opportunity becomes less of a guessing game."

The FIRST RESPONSE Daily Ovulation Test provides 20 chances to find thetwo most fertile days of a woman's cycle. When the test detects the LH Surge,it displays two similar dark pink lines or the test line is darker. The LHsurge is present in urine 24-36 hours before ovulation, and signifies that acouple should try to conceive within the next day and a half.

"Starting a family doesn't always happen as quickly as a couple may hope, and that can be stressful; but many couples simply aren't getting their timingright," says Barbara Collura, Executive Director, RESOLVE: The NationalInfertility Association. "A month's worth of tests is a useful way for womento keep track of their cycles and find their right time. This can relieve someof the anxiety of trying to get pregnant."

About the FIRST RESPONSE Daily Ovulation Test

FIRST RESPONSE Daily Ovulation Test works when a woman's urine comes incontact with a specially treated absorbent tip on the ovulation test stick. After 5 minutes the result window will reveal one or two lines -- theReference Line, which is always present, and the Test Line. If the color andintensity of the Test Line is similar or darker than the Reference Line, thisindicates the LH Surge. If the Test Line is lighter than the Reference Line orthere is no visible Test Line, no LH Surge has been detected.

FIRST RESPONSE Daily Ovulation Test provides 20 tests for a one monthsupply of testing. The test is over 99% accurate in detecting LH Surge.
