"Physician-dispensed home peels provide significant anti-aging and skin-smoothing benefits," said Barbara Green, Vice President for Technology andClinical Affairs at NeoStrata. "Our research shows that AHA home peels offermeaningful anti-aging benefits to supplement the effects of in-officeaesthetic procedures, such as non-ablative lasers, stronger in-office glycolicpeels and microdermabrasion."

A group of 17 patients received an AHA at-home peel for weekly use overtwo months. A second group of 23 patients used an AHA/poly-hydroxy acid (PHA)peel twice a week for four months. Both groups also used bionic/PHA homecareproducts in between peels. Participants noted improvements in the appearanceof skin texture, wrinkles and radiance. Eighty-three percent of patients inthe twice a week protocol perceived younger-looking skin within four weeks orless, and the majority perceived healthier looking skin and reduced pore size.Patients reported at-home peels were well-tolerated and non-irritating.

Supportive at-home products included a PHA cleanser; bionic/PHA or PHA daycream with SPF 15; and bionic/PHA night cream. All products complemented at-home peels and were selected to provide additional anti-aging benefits, including diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even skin tone.

"Our study demonstrates that the use of doctor-dispensed AHA home peelproducts can be a very convenient and flexible first step in a comprehensiveskin rejuvenation program," said Ms. Green. "The data also suggests that homepeels are a reliable way to boost the effect of in-office cosmetic proceduresor to maintain skin between procedures."
