National Quality Report Ranks Regions Hospital Highest in Area

St. Paul hospital receives top marks for heart, pneumonia care



ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Regions Hospital received the highest ranking in the metro area in three key areas of a national quality report. The St. Paul hospital received above average ratings for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia care, according to The Joint Commission's Quality Check website (www.qualitycheck.org).

The Joint Commission is an independent, non-profit organization that sets the standards by which health care quality is measured nationally. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services "National Quality Improvement Goals" are standardized performance measures for all of the nation's 3,000 accredited health care organizations.



Regions is now the only metro hospital with above average ratings in 3 of 4 National Quality Improvement Goals for the most recent reporting period, July 2006 - June 2007. Regions also ranks among the highest for surgical care improvement, the fourth core quality measure established by CMS.
