Recipients must be legal residents of North Carolina for tuition purposes. The scholarship/loans require recipients to practice nursing in North Carolina following completion of the nursing program. Students who do not fulfill the service obligation must repay the loan in full with 10% interest.

The application deadline for a bachelor's program award is February 28, 2009. The deadline for an associate degree award or a graduate degree program is May 3, 2009.

Selection is made by the North Carolina Nurse Scholars Commission. Undergraduate criteria includes grade point average, leadership potential, and community and/or school organization participation. Criteria for graduate study includes bachelor's degree in nursing or a bachelor's of science degree with a concentration in nursing, undergraduate grade point average, professional activities/leadership, and experience in the nursing field.

The undergraduate application is available at www.CFNC.org/NSP and the application for master's degree students is at www.CFNC.org/MNSP. For more information, visit the CFNC website or contact the NCSEAA at 1-800-700-1775, ext. 1 or email [email protected].
