Mrs Baird's Introduces Prebiotic Bread to Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 24 As consumers are expectingmore from their daily bread, Mrs Baird's, Texas' legendary bread company, isresponding by introducing the first prebiotic bread available in mainstreamsupermarkets in Texas. Mrs Baird's today introduced Acti-Fiber Wheat breadcontaining prebiotics fibers to aid in digestive health. The wheat breadcombines the goodness of whole grains with digestive health benefits, a firstin local bread aisles.

Researchshows consumers are demanding more from their everyday foods and there is astrong interest in pre- and pro-biotic products."

According to Datamonitor, U.S. sales of products that aid in digestivehealth exceeded $600 Million in 2006. Pre and pro-biotic new productintroductions increased by 375 percent from 2005 to 2007.

Mrs Baird's Acti-Fiber Wheat is a prebiotic bread that aids in digestivehealth. It has a prebiotic fiber, derived from chicory root, which promotesthe growth of beneficial bacteria in the digestive system. Studies indicatethat these friendly bacteria may inhibit the development and growth of harmfulstrains of bacteria. In addition, Mrs Baird's Acti-Fiber Wheat is a goodsource of fiber, a good source of calcium and contains eight grams of wholegrains per serving.
