MINNEAPOLIS, May 3 Rescue Riders, a national volunteer organization dedicated to giving motorcyclists the tools and training necessary to provide emergency medical assistance, has selected the HeartSine® samaritan® PAD Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for use by its members.

Rescue Riders currently has more than 3,000 motorcycle-riding volunteers in 40 states who are trained as first responders for roadside medical emergencies. According to Dean Akey, Founder & President, Rescue Riders, the organization made the samaritan PAD its defibrillator of choice because of its compact size, durability and ease of use. Unfortunately, the need for this kind of response is well documented. According to U.S. Department of Transportation statistics, motorcyclists are 37 times more likely to die and eight times more likely to be injured in a crash than passenger car occupants, per vehicle mile traveled. This makes an automated external defibrillator a valuable component of a volunteer's set of medical tools.
