Mohegan Sun was created in 1996 by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut. It is now one of Connecticut's largest employers. The Mohegan Tribe has recently announced plans to help develop an entertainment and gaming facility in East Windsor, just north of Hartford. Elegant, based in East Windsor, is a fast-growing Connecticut facility where mentally challenged individuals go to find a place in the community by learning rules for life and doing work that makes them dependable, competent employees.

The Mohegan Tribe is deeply committed to the roles and responsibilities of a major employer in Eastern Connecticut. The Tribe provides significant financial contributions to state and local nonprofit organizations, supports neighboring communities and has built successful, long-standing partnerships with many Connecticut companies ranging from core local businesses to powerful regional brands.

Mohegan Sun said the Tribe would be pleased to add Elegant Clinical to its distinguished list of partners.  Elegant co-founder and CEO Dr. Karen Gaston said: "We are so grateful for this exciting opportunity. Our hard-working individuals already perform a wide variety of services and offer many basic skills valuable to our community including gardening, yard maintenance, site cleanup,  household chores and help with special events. After my discussion with Mohegan Sun, I am convinced this partnership will be a good fit for both of us and provide a significant benefit for the community."

Today State Indian Tribes represent the second largest source of revenue for Connecticut.  Tribes currently share 25% of their slot machine revenues with the State, a lucrative source of revenue that helps pay for badly needed local services for Connecticut's cities and towns that benefit every corner of the State. Since its opening in 1996 and during its first 20 years of operation Mohegan Sun has contributed over $3.3 billion to the State.

The Mohegan Tribe is a sovereign, federally-recognized tribe with a reservation in Southeastern Connecticut.
