Interim Releases Improve Client Experience, Use of Milliman Care Guidelines(R)

SEATTLE, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- A series of regular updates to CareWebQI software from Milliman Care Guidelines LLC, A Milliman Company, ensures that clients have the most effective, fully interactive clinical guideline access available.

CareWebQI is a flexible software package that presents the Care Guidelines clinical content in an interactive format, allowing clients to capture and report on real-time clinical data. The software enables consistent point-and-click application of these annually updated, evidence-based clinical guidelines, so that any client can measure healthcare performance against national quality standards; track variances from best-practice; identify inappropriate care; and detect physician, facility and resource delays.

The version of CareWebQI released with the Care Guidelines 12th Edition in February 2008, provides clinical documentation and variance tracking; allows guideline customization to address local resource availability and treatment protocols; enables "look-ahead" care pathways to document care element timing and predict resource needs; tracks and reports on integrated healthcare quality measures; provides several hosting and integration options with only modest in-house information technology resources, and offers several routes to easily build and update patient, facility, provider and user databases.

Recent enhancements

Additional enhancements have been released so that CareWebQI keeps up with fast-changing information access and delivery technologies, and includes changes requested by clients.

CareWebQI Version 1.6, released in July 2008, improved security, coding and record-keeping, enabling clients to:

CareWebQI Version 1.7, released in September 2008, further improved recordkeeping, and gave clients more control over the program's look and feel, allowing them to:

"These and planned enhancements make CareWebQI a more robust and useful application for busy clinicians helping to move patients through the continuum of care," said Scott Harris, Milliman Care Guidelines Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "These are examples of continuing improvements in our evidence-based clinical tools, helping to improve quality of patient care, while reducing clinical workload."

The independently developed Care Guidelines span the continuum of care, including behavioral health and management of chronic conditions. The seven-product Care Guidelines series defines treatments and procedures proven to be the most effective, from outpatient treatments, through hospitalization, recovery and rehabilitation. The full-time clinical staff that produces the Care Guidelines prides itself on rigorous adherence to an evidence-based methodology. Over 14,000 unique citations are integrated within the software through hyperlinks and "pop-ups" that provide access to references, footnotes, quality measures and comprehensive annotated bibliographies.
