MichBio Announces First Annual Legislator of the Year Award Recipients

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 14 MichBio, the association forMichigan's biosciences industry, today announced two recipients jointly forits first annual Legislator of the Year Award. The award, which recognizesthe state legislator who consistently supports and defends issues ofimportance to the biotechnology community, will be presented to Rep. RebekahWarren (D) and Sen. Randy Richardville (R).

"We established the Legislator of the Year Award to honor our deservingMichigan public servants for their leadership and commitment to advancingbiotechnology and promoting the public's health and well being," said StephenRapundalo, Ph.D., MichBio president and CEO. "Senator Richardville andRepresentative Warren have provided significant leadership in the formation ofthe Biosciences Legislative Caucus, one of the few nationally, and creatinggreater understanding of the biosciences and its critical role in expandingour economy."

The awards will be presented at the Opening Reception of the MichBio Expoon Tuesday, November 18 at the Rock Financial ShowPlace in Novi, MI. The Expois the premier annual gathering of biosciences professionals in the state andcovers two full days, Nov. 18 and 19. It features numerous sessions withpresentations and panel discussions by representatives of more than 70biosciences companies.
