Media Advisory: Coverage Opportunity of the Swearing In and First Meeting of the Newly Formed Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County

Two county boards will officially merge on January 1, 2008. The StarkCounty Community Mental Health Board and the Alcohol and Drug AddictionServices Board of Stark County will be a single entity, known as the MentalHealth and Recovery Services Board of Stark County.

The Board oversees and funds agencies in Stark County that provideprevention, intervention, and treatment services for mental health andsubstance abuse. The board is responsible for assessing the needs of thecommunity and ensuring that a comprehensive continuum of care is in place.

In any given year, a network of 20 affiliated agencies provides more than15,000 residents with mental health and substance abuse services, and morethan 7,000 youth and adults with prevention programs, especially children andteens.

The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County's firstboard meeting will take place on January 1st at 12:00 pm. The Honorable JudgeJohn Haas will swear in the Board. The meeting will last one hour. Thelocation of the meeting will be 800 Market Ave. North, Suite 1150, Canton, OH44702.
