Utilizing proprietary software will increase patient care coordination

DENVER, Oct. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A major academic center has chosen LungDirect over several competitors to manage their pulmonary nodule patients. LungDirect, the only software system designed to manage incidentally found nodules, will be utilized to evaluate the most effective treatment algorithm for patients with incidentally found nodules.  LungDirect will automate methods for identification, notification, and registration into the LungDirect dashboard, and is expected to register 5,000 patients over 20 months. Currently, lung cancer is the leading cause of all cancer death, claiming more lives each year than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined.  Often times a pulmonary nodule, referred to as a spot on the lung, is identified on a CT scan for an order unrelated to the lungs. LungDirect alerts providers, both internally and externally, when a nodule patient is detected, and works to ensure patients receive the appropriate follow-up care.

According to Dr. David Wilson, President and CEO of Respiratory Critical Care Associates in Columbus, IN, "The fight for lung cancer survival demands more than just screening. Lung cancer demands detection of all pulmonary abnormalities, both incidentally and as a screening program. All abnormalities demand responsible data management.  All of these needs are uniquely addressed by Matrix Analytics, and LungDirect is the comprehensive unique solution to early lung cancer detection and management."

LungDirect, a product of Matrix Analytics, is a proprietary software suite developed by an Interventional Pulmonologist frustrated with the disjointed care pulmonary nodule patients often receive. The Electronic Medical Record systems are not equipped to manage nodule care coordination, so Dr. Alzubaidi and his staff were left to use Excel spreadsheets and other outdated mechanisms to manage nodule clinic patients.  After much frustration, he decided there had to be a better way. LungDirect offers an innovative way for providers to manage both lung cancer screening patients and other at-risk pulmonary nodule patients.

About Matrix Analytics: Matrix Analytics is a collection of clinical and business experts aligned in the belief that conquering illness and disease requires data, creativity, and an unrelenting focus on Always Learning. LungDirect is Matrix Analytics' software suite designed to optimize patient care by automatically registering and navigating nodule patients, as well as streamlining CMS reimbursement submission for lung cancer screening patients.
