BALTIMORE, June 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Residents of the Free State join a grassroots movement to raise funds for The Red Devils and the breast cancer cause.  A series of June events help the Baltimore-based non-profit whose signature fundraiser is the Sunday, June 12 Heart and Sole Stroll & 5K.

The Red Devils (TRD) has ties to 38 Maryland hospitals and breast cancer centers.  Through a network of service providers, referred breast cancer patients receive a variety of assistance all aimed at making daily life better including deliveries of meals and groceries to those too sick to cook, transportation to treatments, therapeutic massages and acupuncture, assistance with drug co-payments and some out-of-the-box help such as allowing a single mom to treat her six-year-old to a birthday trip to an amusement park.

Below are a list of June events, including The Heart and Sole Stroll & 5K which is in its ninth year.  In celebration, a "Nine Ladies Dancing" theme was created to salute nine remarkable women who have received Red Devils services.   These women are scheduled to appear at the Stroll and receive special citations, moving in celebration to the music and inspiring lyrics of Lee Ann Womack's I Hope You Dance (also performed by Carrie Underwood; TRD bought rights) and represent Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Caroline, Carroll and Howard Counties plus Washington, D.C.

Says TRD Executive Director Jan Wilson, "Nine Ladies Dancing celebrates women who haven't missed a beat because of their breast cancer.  We salute their indomitable spirits, joi de vivre, fact they remain engaged in their communities and families, and with our assistance, haven't let this disease stand in the way of their quality of life."
