FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Nov. 17 Managed Health Care Associates, Inc. (MHA), the nation's largest Alternate Site GPO, announced today that it plans to open the 2009 MHA Business Summit with prominent speaker David Gergen, former journalist and adviser to Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Clinton, as well as then Secretary of State, Warren Christopher. Mr. Gergen is the Senior Political Analyst for CNN and has been seen almost nightly throughout the 2008 presidential election.

He is a best-selling author and currently also serves as editor-at-large at U.S. News & World Report. In addition, he is a professor of public service at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and is director of its Center for Public Leadership. Celebrating the 6th Anniversary of the Business Summit to be held March 19-20, at The Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada, MHA is very pleased to host such an honored guest. As proof of its value, the 2008 Summit attracted over 600 people, including 350 long-term care pharmacy owners/operators and 83 industry partners. MHA anticipates the 2009 event to be just as successful with record attendance and enthusiastic participation.

The two-day 2009 Summit will be the first under a new president and Congress, and will therefore discuss how the delivery of healthcare may change with the new administration, in addition to focusing on potential legislation that may affect long-term care pharmacy in the coming years. Keynote speaker David Gergen will provide insight on the recent presidential election and proposed direction and initiatives of the new Congress. He will join other featured health care, insurance, and government industry speakers in exploring new business opportunities for long-term care pharmacies.

As an active participant in American national life for 30 years, Mr. Gergen provides valuable political expertise. His demonstrated success in the past as presidential adviser, best-selling author and commentator, along with his current accomplishments as editor and political analyst, makes Mr. Gergen's presence at the 2009 Business Summit all the more inviting.

"MHA is very excited to have David Gergen speak at the 2009 Business Summit. I followed Mr. Gergen on CNN during the presidential campaign," says Michael J. Sicilian, President of MHA. "His keen grasp and understanding of the American political process lent significant insight into the recent presidential campaign and his ongoing commentary on the political environment in 2009 will also bring additional value. Mr. Gergen is a great addition to the Business Summit and we look forward to having him be our keynote speaker."
