As a national model for electronic health data sharing, the LBNH hasgained valuable insights on how providers and consumers view the use of healthinformation technology and plans to share these findings with President-electObama's White House Office of Health Reform.

"Many of the questions outlined in President-elect Obama's guide forcommunity discussions now being held around the country already have beenanswered by community leaders here in Long Beach and Los Angeles County duringthe process of developing our Network," said Laura Landry, executive directorof LBNH. "Los Angeles County is the most populous in the nation, so we'reconfident that President-elect Obama and HHS Secretary-designate Tom Daschlewill be interested in what we have learned."

"Access to healthcare, as well as its cost, safety and quality are ofvital concern to both providers and consumers in our community," said JamiePhillips, chair of the LBNH board and vice president of regional operationsfor HealthCare Partners Medical Group. "Health information exchange hastremendous potential to positively affect each of these concerns. We areworking closely with local stakeholders to develop a sustainable businessmodel for LBNH."
