Lilly Receives NCQA Health Information Product Certification for Interactive Online Health Education Answers Program

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 24 Lilly's (NYSE: LLY) HealthEducation Answers, an interactive online program, has received HealthInformation Product Certification from the National Committee for QualityAssurance (NCQA) for the Health Risk Appraisals and Interactive ConsumerHealth Tools certification options. NCQA is a private, non-profit organizationdedicated to providing health care quality information through the Web and themedia in order to help consumers, employers, and others make more informedhealth care choices.

Health Education Answers is a Web-based program designed for managed careand public payer organizations to assist in further driving the standard ofpatient care through interactive educational information. Patients accessingthe program can progress through an entire neighborhood of health educationand disease management modules, including: ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression,Diabetes, Diabetes Complications, Manage Your Weight, Medication Safety, Men'sHealth, Schizophrenia, Smoking & Addictions, and Women's Health.

Available in English and Spanish with full audio, the Health EducationAnswers program includes research-supported patient education material thatadheres to national clinical guidelines. This tool educates patients onseveral health areas, including proper diet and exercise, healthy habits toteach their kids, and simple steps to help themselves and their familiesprevent illness.

Health Education Answers also includes an optional health risk assessmentthat helps patients identify and understand their individual health needs andat-risk behaviors and suggestions for improvement. Based on the results,Health Education Answers then directs patients to the most applicableeducation modules.

Programs such as Health Education Answers improve health and wellnesswhile reducing health care costs for payers and their patients. According to areport released by the Trust for America's Health, researchers indicate thatpreventive measures will reduce the cost of health care, estimating that foran annual investment of $10 in a "proven" community prevention program, thereturn on investment in 10 to 20 years will exceed $6 for every dollarinvested.(i)
