Following Recent New Product Launches, Leading Interpretation Company to Add More Than 1,000 New Positions to Meet Growing Client Demand for Language Solutions

MONTEREY, Calif., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Language Line Services, the world's leading provider of language-based solutions, plans to add more than 1,000 new positions to keep up with the increasing demand for its over-the-phone, over-video and face-to-face interpretation services. This workforce expansion comes on the heels of Language Line Services' recent launch of four new interpretation solutions and offerings:

  • Language Line(R) Mobile Interpreter(SM) -- the first Apple iPhone application with on-demand, unlimited access to live interpreters in 10 languages.
  • Language Line(R) On-site Interpretation Service -- offering California-based healthcare providers a new option for improving communications with limited-English-speaking patients and their families.
  • Interpreter Certification and Security Clearance -- meeting the increasing demands from new and growing contracts with federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Video Interpretation Service Partnership with NexTalk, Inc. -- working with Utah-based NexTalk, Inc., the leader in deaf-accessible enterprise communication and remote interpreting solutions, to offer an enhanced, computer-based version of Language Line(R) Video Interpreter Service.

Louis Provenzano, Language Line Services' President and Chief Operating Officer, noted that business continues to rapidly grow as a result of ongoing demand from new and existing clients for the company's suite of innovative, high-quality language solutions.

"Language Line Services currently helps 90 percent of U.S. 9-1-1 call centers, 75 percent of Fortune 500 companies, and thousands of hospitals and government agencies across the country speak the languages of their patients and residents using our base of professionally trained and employed interpreters, rather than contracted interpreters," said Provenzano. "Even with these strong market positions, we feel it is necessary to prepare for continued growth with this significant workforce expansion."

Expansion plans call for staff increases at all of Language Line Services' offices, including company headquarters in Monterey, CA; regional offices in Elk Grove, IL, Glendale, CA, Portland, OR, and Tucson, AZ; as well as new work-from-home positions to help the company maintain its traditionally "no commute, no pollute" staffing model. Approximately 80 percent of Language Line Services' interpreter workforce operates from home-based offices.

"This is a thrilling time in our company's 28-year history," added Provenzano. "We welcome hundreds of new members to our team of the very best interpreters, translators and language professionals."
