DETROIT, June 20 From June 20, 2008 through June 27, 2008, more than 2,000 people of short stature from around the United States and the world will gather at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center Hotel for the Annual National Little People of America (LPA) Conference in downtown Detroit.

LPA is partnering with Marriott Hotel, General Motors and the City of Detroit to bring global solutions and awareness to the prominent issues affecting people with dwarfism and demonstrate the value and productive contribution Little People bring to our communities. The week-long conference is loaded with cultural, social, and informational events.

Little People of America, Inc. is a national non-profit organization dedicated to serving, supporting, advocating and enhancing the lives and lifestyles of individuals with dwarfism and their families. Founded in 1957 by the late actor Billy Barty, LPA offers social, educational, medical and emotional support to individuals of short stature around the country. Today, LPA has a membership of nearly 6,000.
The National Conference is hosted by District Five of Little People of America, Inc. Medical and Educational Workshops, Sport Competitions, an Expo, a Talent and Fashion Show, a Detroit Tigers Baseball Game, a trip to the Greenfield Village/ Henry Ford Museum, and the DIA and Motor City Banquet and Awards Celebration are some of the activities planned for Little People and their families and supporters.
