Kimberly Finder, M.D. Asks: Are We Really In an Economic Recession?
A survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery foundthat despite the economic concerns the use of fillers and Botox are on therise. Twenty-eight percent of the survey physicians said that their currentuse of fillers increased up to 30 percent, compared to six months ago and morethan 40 percent of survey respondents stated that the number of Botoxprocedures also increased compared to six months ago.
Dr. Kimberly Finder, Director of The Face Place, agrees with the survey'sfindings as she has seen a similar rise within her own practice. "Despitewhat is going on in the economy, people are looking for ways to keep ayouthful appearance not just for personal reasons but for their careers. Whowants to go to work or to an interview and look tired? Botox and fillers havethe ability to take years off of your look without having to get an expensiveface lift."
Recently published articles such as "Bad Economy Gives Botox a Lift" inForbes Magazine and "The 3 Best and Worst Cosmetic Surgeries for Your Career"in U.S. News and World Reports discuss that individuals are looking for waysto boost their career and confidence through cosmetic procedures.
"In the past, cost was not a prominent part of the discussion withpatients. Now, they are asking more specific questions about how much eachprocedure or item will cost. Fortunately, there are many ways that one canimprove their look and confidence while not breaking the budget," statesFinder.
