Ken Sperling to Lead CIGNA HealthCare Retiree Solutions Unit

BLOOMFIELD, Conn., Sept. 12, 2007 Ken Sperlinghas been named senior vice president, retiree solutions for CIGNA HealthCare'ssenior segment. In this role, Sperling will lead the development of productsand services for businesses and their retirees. He will report directly toCIGNA HealthCare Senior Segment President Sam Srivastava, who is responsiblefor CIGNA's government, individual, and employer-based programs serving theU.S. senior population.

"Ken's deep experience, proven thought leadership, and nationallyrecognized expertise on employer-based health care trends are vital to ourgoal of improving the health, well-being and security of seniors throughsimple, affordable and usable health and lifestage solutions," saidSrivastava.

Since joining CIGNA HealthCare more than two years ago, Sperling has beena member of the national accounts leadership team responsible for strategydevelopment, consultant relationships, and CIGNA's participation in a numberof industry groups. He currently co-chairs Care Focused Purchasing, a multi-stakeholder effort to provide provider cost and quality transparency on anational basis.

Prior to CIGNA, he spent 17 years with the global consulting firm HewittAssociates LLC, where he managed Hewitt's health care consulting practice onthe east coast, developed health care strategy for Fortune 500 companies, andwas Hewitt's liaison to the Wall Street community for guidance on markettrends.

A noted author, Sperling co-wrote the textbook "Fundamentals of FlexibleCompensation" and has been published in The Journal of Applied CorporateFinance, Benefits Quarterly, Pension World, and the Journal of Compensation &Benefits.

Sperling has a bachelor's degree in management sciences and accountingfrom Duke University and a master's degree in business administration from NewYork University. He currently chairs the Advisory Board for the HealthManagement Program at The University of Connecticut, and has guest lectured atthe Harvard Business School and the Yale School of Management.
