Myers and his wife are co-founders of AmigoDay, tm: Just greet anyoneanywhere, your way, any month's first Sunday.
"We are striving to make AmigoDay as meaningful worldwide as Mother'sDay," Julian explains, "and I believe within 30 years we'll achieve it.
"AmigoDay is saluting the Huntsman World Senior Games, and I participateeach year because they invite anyone in the world to take part. That is whatAmigoDay is all about. The Las Vegas Marathon is international, also, so I'll'run for AmigoDay' there, too, December 7, and in a few other events thatreach out to all."
Myers began a 90-mile jog from San Diego to Los Angeles on his 90thbirthday, Feb. 22, alerting as many media points as possible, proclaimingAmigoDay. On Sunday, March 2, AmigoDay, he completed his 90-mile jaunt bycompeting in the Los Angeles Marathon's 5K race.
He rounded out that day when many of the 390 friends (including fromAustria, New York, Detroit, Hawaii, St. Louis, Reno, etc.) whom he and hiswife had invited to dinner joined them to celebrate at a 99-year-old downtownL.A. restaurant, Philippe's.
They are now inviting 500 for March 4, 2018, to do the same for Julian's100-mile run for AmigoDay.
Asked how to live to be one hundred and more, Myers suggests: "Just findsomething to achieve that will take you till you're a hundred -- hopefullysomething of social or civic value -- and, ordinarily, your health will bethere for you to attain it. AmigoDay seems to have befriended us.
"And if you jog for an hour -- or the physical equivalent -- outdoors eachmorning, as I like to, you'll feel better all along the way. Remain fit toparticipate in the Huntsman World Senior Games and other sports and they willhelp keep you and your dreams alive. P.S.: Be sure to have the right mate!"JULIAN MYERS PUBLIC RELATIONS 13900 PANAY WAY, R-217 MARINA DEL REY, CALIFORNIA 90292-6145 (310) 827-9089 FAX: (310) 827-9838 E-mail: [email protected]
