Jiffy Lube Surpasses $1 Million Fundraising Goal for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women Movement to Fight Heart Disease

HOUSTON, March 30 As a result of the generous support of its customers across the country, Jiffy LubeŽ proudly announces that its 2010 Maintenance Partners for Life campaign raised more than $1 million for the American Heart Association's (AHA) Go Red For WomenŽ movement -- for a third year. More than 1,700 Jiffy Lube service centers participated in the campaign, which helps raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease. The campaign ran from February 1 through March 14 and raised a total of $1,111,784 nationally, surpassing the $1 million fundraising goal. All funds are allocated to AHA initiatives in the communities in which they were raised.

"I know firsthand how devastating the effects can be as two of my family members have suffered from heart disease," said Bill Shockley, of Shockley Management, Inc., a Jiffy Lube franchise in Maryland. "This campaign means a lot to me because it allows us to educate our customers about heart disease prevention, while also raising funds to support research and initiatives to help fight the disease."

Including this year's contributions, Jiffy Lube has donated more than $3.4 million to the cause since 2008. Funds were raised by asking customers to make a $3 donation at participating service centers. In return, customers received a Maintenance Partners for Life book with more than $100 in savings.

"With so many organizations and charities for consumers to contribute to, we are thrilled the Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign continues to spread awareness and raise funds for heart disease," said Neil Meltzer, American Heart Association Board Chairman. "This campaign continues to make such a strong impact on helping to eradicate this devastating disease, and for that we are grateful."

Top Fundraisers

During the campaign, several service centers achieved great success, standing out as top fundraisers. The top three fundraisers in terms of percentage of vehicles serviced are Jiffy Lube store #1270 located in Arroyo Grande, CA, which is owned by Sean Porcher of PCJL, Inc.; Jiffy Lube store #2623 located in Pasco, WA, which is also owned by Sean Porcher of TCFL Group; and Jiffy Lube store #2354 in Sacramento, CA, which is owned by Don Fowler of Broadbase, Inc.

The Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign leverages the parallels between maintaining a healthy heart and a healthy vehicle. Nearly 2,300 Americans die of cardiovascular disease each day -- an average death of one every 38 seconds -- and 80 percent of the vehicles inspected during vehicle check-up events needed either service or parts, according to a survey from the Car Care Council in 2008.
