Invasive Fungal Infections in HSCT Recipients: Improving Outcomes Through Prevention and Treatment
VOORHEES, N.J., Oct. 15 -- Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and associated immunosuppression is linked to an increased risk of invasive fungal infections (IFIs). IFIs are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in HSCT recipients. Recent changes in the epidemiology of IFIs have led to an increased frequency of some mold-related and drug-resistant infections, both of which are linked to poor outcomes in patients. It is critical for healthcare professionals who work with HSCT recipients to be aware of novel strategies to prevent and treat IFIs, as these are likely to contribute to improved outcomes in this patient population.
To address the need for current education on prevention and treatment of IFIs in HSCT recipients, Robert Michael Educational Institute LLC (RMEI) and Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) are jointly sponsoring a complimentary continuing education monograph entitled Invasive Fungal Infections in HSCT Recipients: Improving Outcomes Through Prevention and Treatment.
